A lot of us don’t believe in fashion rules. I’m one of them. But today, as I write once more for my website to look at what’s to come this 2019, I realized something. You can’t break the rules without knowing and mastering them.

And sometimes, the rules can save you when you hesitate. Finding your own style can be difficult. Plus with new clothing coming out every season, new brands out of the woodwork every day, fashion can be confusing and overwhelming. So the fashion rules can be a guide for you as you create your own rules. This is why I’m doing a simple rundown of the rules which can guide you when you’re getting a bit confused with fashion.

#1 Invest in a good handbag

Handbags, especially croc skin, have a special place in my closet. They can be used for a long time and can add a good statement to any outfit.

#2 When it doubt, wear black
Black is an easy ensemble to pull off when you have nothing to wear. Just update it with white sneakers and your various accessories as you prefer.

#3 Dress to your shape
When you can’t determine if something looks good, think of the guides that show how you can dress for your shape. It’s one of the easiest bets you can count on when choosing the style and cut of a garment.

#4 Own a nude pair of pumps
Nude pumps go with anything, from an LBD to casual jeans and a shirt. It adds height and won’t clash with anything.

#5 Be conscious of line
Horizontal lines on a shirt make you look bigger, vertical lines can elongate. It’s a fool-proof rule that will help you choose your stripes.
