Three years after I got my first full tub of the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay, I’m still a serial mask user. Whenever I need a quick solution to a skin problem, a good cleanse, and something to do on a slow night, I mask. It’s proven to be quite an essential in my skin routine as it often delivers the results it promises in a few days, if not instantly. Also, the thing about masks is how they work better if you use them regularly.

I’m such a serial mask user that I even believe in using at least one every night. If I feel that my skin needs extra attention, I multi-mask. Sometimes, I even mask right before a big event so that my skin is well-prepped from make-up.

I also believe that there is a different mask for every day of the week. If your skin is anything like mine, it can be a bit temperamental. One day, it’s spot-free but in need of extra cleaning; the next day, it feels tight and dry. Some days, you feel the stress of work showing up, other days you know it’s congested with dirt. So here’s my five-day recommendation.

Monday: Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

Start the week with a clean face. A new favorite in my collection is this one from Peter Thomas Roth. It serves as both an exfoliator and a mask. You rub a thin layer of the formula on your face gently with your fingers to get rid of the dead skin cells. The fine granules work with AHA and vitamin C to reveal brighter skin. Afterwards, you leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off. I find this leaves my skin primed to absorb the next steps of my routine.

Tuesday: Dear, Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask

It’s usually on a Tuesday night when you feel the bulk of work ahead of you. This is why it’s best to reach for a convenient sheet mask to relax yourself. This one, Dear, Klairs has erythritol which helps skin cool down. The bamboo in the sheet helps clear pores of blackheads. At least that’s one thing you don’t have to worry about this week.

Wednesday: Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask

Murphy’s Law dictates that you get a pimple on the night before a big presentation or an event. Origins has the best way to prevent that with this miracle mask. I’ve used this several times and I’m always amazed how it works so well. It dries out any budding pimples in 10 minutes along with the oily texture through zinc oxide, sulfur and camphor.

Thursday: Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask

Your skin has been through a lot, throughout the week. It’s time to refresh the skin with a cooling cucumber gel mask. This gentle formula from Peter Thomas Roth soothes the skin, not just with cucumber but also with several extracts: papaya, chamomile, pineapple, sugar maple, sugarcane, orange, lemon, bilberry and aloe vera. I leave this in the fridge to heighten the cooling effect. I also apply this last during my skin routine since it can serve as an overnight mask.

Friday: L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Mask: Illuminating

Reset your skin by eliminating all its pollutants. This mask uses British kaolin clay and Moroccan lava clay to remove dead skin cells and impurities. This is combined with lemongrass for the anti-oxidant properties. With its affordable price, you get so much for what you paying for. It’s a mask that will be seeing you through a lot of Fridays to come. JB
