Four-time PBA champion, three-time PBA Finals MVP, and Barangay Ginebra point guard LA Tenorio is into Korean dramas. In fact, watching K-dramas is part of his pre-game routine.
“I watch it on my own and on my iPad. I watch it before my games,” he said to Super during the viewing party of the Netflix zombie thriller, “Kingdom”. The event, hosted by LG Philippines, had zombies running around the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Taguig. We spotted the cager playfully taking a selfie with them.
He’s not embarrassed about his pre-game habit. However, he said that not a lot of people know that he likes watching Korean series. He said that he prefers downloading his videos and watching them whenever he can. That is why his iPad contains videos of his favorite dramas and a list of shows that he has seen.
Action all the way
The action genre is his favorite. He named Lee Min-ho’s “City Hunter” (2011) as his introduction to K-drama. Song Joong-ki’s and Song Hye-kyo’s “Descendants of the Sun” (2016) was something he enjoyed. Tenorio also watched the Lee Byung-hun starrer “Iris” (2009).
The only romantic comedy title that made his list is “Birdie Buddy” (2007). He tried watching “Goblin” (2016) but got bored with it.

“I ran out of things to watch, actually. I prefer the old titles,” he said to Super in Filipino. “Can you suggest one?”
We suggested that he give Park Seo-joon’s and Kim Ji-won’s “Fight for my Way” (2017) a try. He listed the title down on his iPad.
We watched “Kingdom” at the Korean Wave Hall of KCC. The decor of the place was like a Joseon royal court. IWell, almost like a royal court only there were three LG 55-inches TV set-up at the front. LG Philippines donated a total of six televisions to KCC that day, January 24.

The electronics company held the event to celebrate the 70th anniversary of friendship between the Philippines and South Korea. KCC is a popular stop for Filipinos who want to learn Korean culture like language, cooking, art, dance and martial arts.
We caught up with Tenorio after the viewing where we asked him what he thought of “Kingdom.”
“It’s exactly how I came to expect a Korean series would be. The zombies did not scare me but some scenes surprised me. I cannot wait to continue watching the rest,” Tenorio said.
