A man in New Jersey, USA, was struck by luck at the last minute when he bought a lottery ticket that won him $1 million (around P52 million).

Ryan Seiller told New Jersey lottery officials on Wednesday that he decided to play the lottery as the Powerball jackpot reached a high $260 million (around P13 billion).

Seiller bought his winning ticket on Saturday night at the local store, minutes before it closed its lottery register for that night.

The next day while he was out to lunch with his girlfriend, he checked the results and discovered he was $1 million richer. The winner then excitedly told his girlfriend that he won, but she did not believe him at first.

He said that with his winnings, he plans to pay off his current debts and invest for his future. Seiller also plans to save some for his children’s college funds and to use it to take a vacation “somewhere warm.”  /ra
