MANILA, Philippines — With its unique and breathtaking trails, Timberland Heights has attracted mountain biking enthusiasts who braved the trails for the 7-Eleven trail race. Now on its 6th year, this cross-country race has encouraged some 3,000 bikers who participated in the 30-km and 40-km race category.

“We chose Timberland Heights from the very start because frankly, there was nothing comparable even then, in terms of terrain and accessibility to Metro Manila. Today, with the investment Timberland has put into new trails, there is no other better place anywhere in the country. Perhaps even in South East Asia – I haven’t been around enough to say – and we hope to capitalize on this to make the 7-Eleven Trail Series not just the premier mountain biking event in the Philippines, but in South East Asia as well,” said Victor Paterno, President and CEO of Philippine Seven Corp.

With an estimated 700-meter climb in a 40-kilometer distance, bikers had to conquer the single-loop course and two black diamond sections, or the more advanced trails. These sections require riders to berm and bunny hop to overcome multiple obstacles such as rocks and roots. These trails brought out the riders high level of technical skills as they approached, and rode on rough terrain.

Conquering the trails require fitness, endurance and determination. This year’s winners have undoubtedly proven this. Ariana Dormitorio emerged as the winner in the women’s division after 2 hours, 17 minutes and 22 seconds. Alvin Benosa, finished the race in an hour, 50 minutes and 8 seconds to lead in the men’s division.

Hosting the 7-Eleven trail is Filinvest fueled by its vision of inspiring the community to participate in an active and healthy lifestyle with Timberland Heights being the only biking destination closest to Metro Manila with first-class bike trails.

“We envisioned Timberland Heights as a recreational township destination, not just a place to live in but a destination that allows you to discover and experience life in an extraordinary and adventurous way while being cradled by nature’s own perfection,” Francis V. Ceballos, Senior Vice President and North East Cluster head of Filinvest said.

“We are delighted to be the venue partner of 7-Eleven for the sixth straight year. We look forward to more competitions here at Timberland Heights,” Ceballos added. /jpv
