You will need:

Ribbon

Decorative button to match the ribbon

Elastic thread

Cotton thread

Needle

Tape measure

Scissors

Measure the length of the journal. Make the ribbon half an inch shorter than the actual length of the journal.

Sew the decorative button on one edge.

Cut 1.5 inches off the elastic thread and tie the ends together.
