When temperatures rise and the glare from the sun can be too much at times, many women prefer to stick to the barest minimum: a comfortable shirt, a pair of shorts or linen pants, and sandals. Others see it as reason to break out the airy printed tops and tailored shorts.

In its yearly event at the Mega Fashion Hall last week, SM Woman presented its summer collection for both types of women.

The atrium of the Mega Fashion Hall was transformed into a showcase with beauty advisers giving customers instant makeovers using products from BYS, Max Factor and Revlon. Key pieces from the new collections were sold that afternoon.

Once the show started, the models—thin, tall, curvy and plus-sized—came out in a selection of dresses and separates perfect for hot summer. Tailored shorts were paired with cropped jackets, and there were denim shirt dresses that made dressing up very easy.

Tropical-printed kimonos and matching pants were styled as cover-ups for bikini tops or camisoles. Aside from the leaf prints in all shades of green, there were stripes (a very preppie mustard and navy), and a dusty chevron.  –RAOUL J. CHEE KEE
