The Workshop sweet and savory crepes

We have our The Grid favorites. Every time we visit, we have our rotation of regular orders: chipirones pintxos from Rambla, tuna tostadas from La Chinesca, porchetta from Le Chon, lobster rolls from Bun Appetit, Bucky’s twister fries and Basque burnt cheesecake from Workshop by Le Petit Souffle.

But the people behind The Grid always have something up their sleeve and our recent visit to the Rockwell Power Plant food hall led us to discover new favorites that will keep us coming back for more.

1. The steak at Beefier

Beefier’s USDA Prime Ribeye is a glorious steak. It’s tender, beautifully marbled and cooked perfectly (always medium—don’t argue). It’s served with arugula salad, which provides a great contrast to the richness of the steak. This is so good we haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since we first ate it.

2. The burgers at The Beef

The Beef has been serving our favorite burger in the country for several years now. But it may have been dethroned by its big brother Beefier. Our pick: Beefiest. Their biggest, baddest, beefiest, cheesiest burger: smashed burger patty made from freshly ground beef with a brown seared crust, melted sliced cheese, tomato, lettuce and dressing served on a custom-baked butter toasted potato bun. It’s bliss in a bun.

Babu’s Laksa

3. Babu’s Laksa

If you can take a bit of spice, you absolutely have to dig into Babu’s Laksa. This spicy noodle soup is hot, creamy and comforting. Its delightfully complex mix of flavors will send your taste buds on a trip.

4. Rambla’s weekend paella

We love Rambla’s take on Spanish food and we are overjoyed that Rambla’s stall at The Grid now serves paella on weekends.

5. Bun Appetit’s avocado creations

Who knew avocado and seafood were a good match? Bun Appetit’s Lobster Avocado Roll was a divine revelation, as was the Avocado Shrimp Toast.

6. Steamed live Maine lobster

What we thought was just a Mother’s Day treat is now a permanent Bun Appetit offering. Feel like having a whole Maine lobster? Just make your reservation two days in advance and Bun Appetit will make your lobster dreams come true.

Here’s a tip: Watch that Gordon Ramsay video to learn how to get all the meat out of your lobster. Or just ask the folks at Bun Appetit to help. They’re pros.

7. Le Chon’s Lechon Belly Adobo Flakes

Yes, yes, yes, please.

Gochu Gang Pork Belly Bulgogi

8. Gochu Gang’s Pork Belly Bulgogi

This bowl of Korean goodness really hits the spot.

9. Risa’s Champorado

Delicious, decadent champorado topped with dilis, powdered milk and Risa chocolate pieces. They call it champorado for champs, we call it heaven in a bowl.

10. The Crepes at The Workshop

Workshop by Le Petit Soufflé now sweet dessert crepes in flavors like Banana Nutella Brûlée, Butter Sugar, Dark Chocolate Strawberry and Mango Butter Sugar. They have savory creations too including Mushroom, Salmon, Sausage and Four-Cheese.

The Grid is located at R2 Level Expansion at Power Plant Mall.
