A Japanese concept that became a Hong Kong favorite, Shari Shari Kakigori House is now serving cool treats at Serendra in Taguig. The trick is to make the ice look fluffy like fallen snow—and to taste good. The bite is light, and servings are for sharing. Choose from Strawberry Special, Black White Angel with milk syrup and crushed Oreos, Earl Gray Milk Tea with hint of citrus, Matcha Cream Special with Korumitsu (brown sugar syrup), Tiramisu and the local offering Cantaloupe Melon.

Fujinoya Manila Matcha Mousse

Super Eat Here: New treats that hit the sweet spot

Matcha is a polarizing love it-or-hate-it flavor. Fujinoya Manila claims to serve desserts that can please even those who abhor the grassy tea taste. The brand has been around in Japan and Cebu before opening a restaurant at Robinson’s Cyberscape Gamma Building in 2018.

Try the Matcha Mousse which has a sponge base, layers of Belgian chocolate ganache, fresh cream and matcha powder. Other desserts: Nama chocolates, Strawberry Shortcake, eight- layer Chocolate Cake and the classic soufflé-ish Japanese Cheesecake. Fujinoya Manila also serves teriyaki sandwiches and bento meals.

Fujinoya Manila is at Robinson’s Cyberscape Gamma Ruby and Hampton Gardens Arcade, Pasig City
