Spotted on Meghan Markle, could this be the new 'It' bag? | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently attended the WellChild Awards where she was spotted toting a boxy acetate bag. Since then, the internet has been abuzz about her latest arm candy.

The bag in question is by Montunas; which means “women from the mountains.” As their website reads, “The first bags were made on a cattle ranch on the coast of Costa Rica 25 years ago by Elke Ruge…Today her two daughters, Amanda and Elena Hawila, have teamed up with her to share her designs with the world.”

The Duchess of Sussex’s ‘Tortoiseshell Guaria’ bag was inspired by the hanging planters and pots used at the Montunas Orchid House. The scarf handle in a print created by an artist native to the region can be worn two ways, either long or short, and is removable along with the internal pouch.

Montunas’ core designs feature vegetable tanned leather that gets better with age, remaining practical and stylish year after year. A celebration of Costa Rica and London (the homes of women behind the brand), Montunas continues to create timeless pieces that can hold up between continents, trends, and generations.
