MANILA, Philippines — After her Miss Universe reign, Catriona Gray is back in the country with many projects ahead, one of which is sharing experiences and lessons on “Conquering Your Universe.”

The 25-year-old beauty queen kickstarted her return to the country by inking a contract with ABS-CBN’s publishing arm for her upcoming book entitled “Conquering Your Universe” to be released in 2020.

“The title is Conquering Your Universe. It’s a collection of lessons that I’ve learned in the past couple of years, that I feel really allowed me to achieve what I did—things that I’ve learned from a personal perspective, things that I learned in regards to dealing or learning from others, and also about giving back,” Gray said Thursday during the contract signing.

Despite getting inspiration from her journey as Miss Universe, Gray wanted to pursue writing the book to spread positivity.

“I wanted it to be relatable. It’s not about just pageantry. These lessons can be applicable to anyone from whatever walk of life that they may be in,” Gray said.

“I just wanted it to be something that would be positive impactor, something to contribute to the community,” she added.

Her motivation in writing the book, Gray said, was also to create a space where she could give advice to a sibling whom she never had.

“I wanted to create something that I put a lot of heart into because being an only child also, I feel like if I could be a sibling to myself, like an ‘ate’ to myself, what would I tell my younger self?” she said.

“It’s really all about giving all of these lessons and experiences that I learned and I took away from, that I feel really built me up to the person that I am today,” Gray continued.

Her book-writing stint just came a few days after she relinquished her crown as Miss Universe to South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi. #
