French fragrance brand Diptyque has finally come up with a scent that pays tribute to Paris. And that’s interesting because Diptyque was founded at 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain of the French capital.

Almost 60 years overdue, Diptyque gives Paris its due with Eau Capitale, its first chypre, a fragrance that’s an enigmatic and elegant mix of roses, patchouli, bergamot and pink peppercorns. It’s a fitting homage, a love letter to its home and a story for the rest of us.

Eau Capitale can be worn by both women and men—not a surprise, since Diptyque is a master of genderless fragrances. Illustrator Pierre Marie created art that’s inspired by Parisian architecture and Art Nouveau buildings for the perfume’s exquisite packaging.

Diptyque has also created Paris en Fleur, a perfumed candle that pays tribute to the City of Lights with a chypre scent that has rose notes and a hint of patchouli. A limited-edition solid perfume and scented oval are also available.

Diptyque unveiled these products recently at Gallery by Chele, serving champagne, macarons, eclairs and other French delights while artist Pete Rich painted portraits of the guests.

Everyone was invited to conjure one’s memories and dreams of Paris and write about them on postcards that to be sent to the sender. It was a fun celebration of the fragrance and the city that inspired it.

Eau Capitale can also be your love letter to your Valentine. It’s the bouquet of roses that will never wilt, a luxurious and sensuous gift, a love letter in a bottle.
