Teen queen Kathryn Bernardo and sultry singer Angeline Quinto showed their distinct fighting stances amid the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.
On their social media accounts, Bernardo and Quinto articulated their love for the network and for their beleaguered colleagues in their own personal ways.
Posting a video clip of the ABS-CBN tower on her Instagram account today, Bernardo emotionally pledged her allegiance to the network which made her what she is today.
Kakayanin natin ‘to nang magkakasama. Mahal kita, ABS-CBN. Tandaan mo ‘yan,” she declared.
(You’ve gone through so many things these past months. Many have challenged you – you were belittled and mocked. But you did not give up. You’re still here, continuing to give all of us hope. Now, it’s our turn to give you light when you need us most. This is not the end of everything. We will not forsake you until you are able to rise again. Be strong. We will all surpass this together. I love you, ABS-CBN. Remember that.)
While her fans were quick to express their support, it was fellow Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin’s comment which stood out as she said, “Salamat Kath & DJ. Saludo ako sa inyo.” (Thank you Kath & DJ. I salute both of you.)
Locsin, who has been active in COVID-19 relief efforts, has also been one of ABS-CBN’s most vocal stars who protest the denial by Congress of the network’s franchise renewal.
Meanwhile, Quinto opted to express her stand through an unapologetic tweet.
On July 10, the day the verdict on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal was finally decided on, Quinto commented on her Twitter account, “Hindi aq perpektong tao. Nasasaktan po aq. Hihingi napo aq ng tawad sainyo. P*T*NG INA! ginawa niyo sa aming lahat.
(I am not a perfect person. I was hurt. I will ask for your forgiveness. [expletive] For what you did to all of us.)
As with Bernardo, the fans of Quinto could only agree. A lot comforted her and assured her it was alright to feel anger.
One @TheVampsftMichi felt there will be comeuppance as she said, “Ate Angeline sa 70 na tao na nag yes, may karma na darating [dyan], waiting for election 2022. Naka Black na sila sa list hahaha, #KapamilyaForever. Maniningil ang kasaysayan. NEVER FORGET.”
(Of the 70 who said yes to the non-renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise, there will be karma for them, waiting for the 2022 election. They’re all blacklisted. History will make them pay.)
Meanwhile, defending Quinto’s strong words, one @butterpeach_ commented, “O yung feeling santo dyan oh, nagmura lang si Angge kung ano ano na sasabihen. Lumayas [kayo] dito masasamang nilalang!”
(Hey, to all those feeling like they’re saints out there, just because Angeline cussed, you will already say all sorts of things. Leave this page, evil creatures.) JB
