BEIJING — A new book about how to rest has been published by CITIC Press Group.
Written by British writer Claudia Hammond, the book, The Art of Rest: How to Find Respite in the Modern Age, aims to tell people how to effectively rest and inspire people to find the most suitable way of resting for themselves.
Hammond was involved in a group led by experts from Durham University to conduct a rest test several years ago. The group conducted a survey on the rest situations of 18,000 people from 135 countries, and summarized the 10 most effective ways of resting. Hammond shows and analyzes them in this book.
According to her, two-thirds of the interviewees said they felt they didn’t get enough rest and wanted more time to rest. The most effective way for rest is reading, followed by embracing nature and staying alone.
