Actress Andi Eigenmann wanted to help in the improvement of a health and day care center in Siargao where she lives with her family, so she decided to let go of some of her family’s clothes to contribute to a fundraising drive.
Eigenmann together with her daughter Ellie and some friends sorted out clothes for the effort, as seen on her family’s YouTube channel, Happy Islanders, last Sunday, June 13. The episode also showed other activities she had with her kids.
“Hi guys. We’re here in the [play] room and we are sorting our clothes, pre-loved for our ukay-ukay this weekend,” Eigenmann said, adding that she had long wanted to mount an ukay-ukay.
“Ang tagal ko nang gustong magkaron ng purpose ‘yung mga pre-loved clothes namin. Alam ko na maraming ibang makikinabang and of course it’s better for the environment if I can see na napa-pass on ko siya. But then, siyempre, nahiya naman ako magbenta,” she said.
(I have long wanted to make our pre-loved clothes useful. I know there are many who can benefit and of course it’s better for the environment if I can see the clothes passed on. But then, of course, I felt embarrassed to sell them.)
Her view changed when her friend set up a fundraiser with Isla Medical Foundation to improve the local health and day care center. All the earnings from the selling of their pre-loved clothes will go to the center.
Eigenmann has been living in Siargao with her partner, professional surfer Philmar Alipayo, and their two children, Lilo and baby boy Koa. Also living with them is her eldest daughter Ellie, the actress’ child with ex-boyfriend Jake Ejercito. JB
