With summer comes a lot of occasions for skin-baring. Sadly, no amount of protection shields us from the harmful rays of the sun, which causes dark spots, dry skin and dry hair, among other things.
It’s no longer enough to use SPF religiously, with the sun seemingly getting harsher by the day. Although summer is all about getting that sun-kissed shade with the best protection, having good skin is also essential now more than ever. Using less makeup during summer means showing all those little flaws a concealer can easily hide.
Luckily, there are some products that can help us feel confident about showing more skin.
Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector: For those who have dark spots, this may be the answer to your prayers. I used to have one, but after I began using Clinique’s Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (it won Allure’s beauty awards, so I ordered one pronto), my dark spot has lightened to a shade I am very comfortable with. It took three months, but it worked. It helps combat facial discoloration by combating new dark spots, breaking pigmentation and gently exfoliating the skin to make it appear more luminous. I apply just a very thin film, and it works—and it also lasts pretty long. The beauty product will be available locally starting this April.
Olay’s Natural White Healthy Fairness with grape seed extract: I prefer being tan, but I am so scared of the sun that I am now so white. In a week or two I will probably end up at Emphasis Salon getting spray-tanned. I love products that help fight pigmentation and are brightening, since dull, uneven skin is a big beauty no-no. There are a couple of soaps that help get you radiant skin, and this Olay variant is one of them. I like how it makes my skin feel after a bath. This bar is definitely worth a try.
La Mer The Whitening Lotion Intense: It claims to combat hyperpigmentation that leads to skin discoloration. Uneven skin tone gives the appearance of aged skin, which, also, is a sign of too much sun exposure. This product is great to use before using sunblock, since it helps enhance the product’s efficacy. It delivers concentrated whitening benefits, delivering a youthful translucence that equates to fine, supple skin. Even if you wish to have a sun-kissed glow, I would still recommend using this product to give your skin an even tone and help brighten it.
Hair care
The sun is not the only factor responsible for dry, damaged hair. Coloring, blow-drying, and all that tugging from brushing or tying it can also damage hair.
Kerastase Force Architecte will help resurrect hair in three steps. First, it has Intra Cylane, which helps strengthens the core of the hair. Second, pro-keratin reinforces and revitalizes the hair fibers. Lastly, ceramides smoothen and protect hair, keeping it shiny and radiant.
When we take care of our skin, we should not forget to include our hair in our beauty regimen. After all, it is not called our “crowning glory” for nothing.
