Nani Reyes presents his seventh solo exhibition titled “play + pen” at Artasia Gallery.
Reyes celebrates and documents traditional Filipino children’s games, such as tumbang preso, turumpo, saranggola, gagamba and sungka. Rendered in a multiplicity of geometric forms, the evenly clean prismatic colors radiate a stained-glass quality. The images serve as a template of the world of Filipino children, referencing the socioeconomic status of the middle class and lower strata of our society.
