Finding ways to spread good energy at home or to motivate everyone to prepare for work or school shouldn’t be too hard to do. It’s a matter of finding the right activities or incentives that can bring “gana” to the hubby, ate, kuya, or bunso especially as you ring in the new year.

Before heading on a dive of our list, it’s high time to discuss first what “gana” means. The word “gana” can be interpreted as energy, motivation, or drive. In a nutshell: what pushes someone to reach a goal or task.

Here’s our short, curated list that shows how one can pay the “gana” forward.

1. Eat good food together.

Probably the easiest to guess in the list, eating good food is crucial to produce enough energy for the body. Having a balanced diet is ideal but making sure to eat veggies and healthy food is also important. But what makes this a bit more special is when you have meals together as a family.

Food is an important part of the diet as it provides the body with the nutrients needed. By eating delicious food with your hubby or kids–even your favorite greasy or oily meal—you will not only achieve a balanced diet but also a bonding experience with the family.

2. Exercising as a family.

With every start of the year comes exploring new habits or resolutions, like exercising together. Start at the capacity you believe your body can handle. If you feel like the body is lacking energy or “gana”, it’s good to have a quick run to get the blood flowing. If that’s not possible, perform a few sit-ups or do some stretching to let the body adjust to the new routine.

Exercising can bring the “gana” on especially when done with the family. Join community Zumba sessions with your sibling or with mom or take part in special marathons with dad to vary the experience from time to time.

3. Recognize each other’s milestones and start a tradition of celebrating small and big wins

It’s best to recognize milestones from time to time and to celebrate all the good (and bad) moments with some of the people you interact with the most: your family. This can be done by outrightly saying positive comments, or maybe by treating the fam to a late-night fast-food take-out run.

Simple gestures can also be done at home for even the smallest wins. Give your parents or siblings a hug for helping you out with homework or prepare a good hot meal for lunch or dinner.

4. Give incentives.

Another way to have a ma-“gana” start of the year at home is by giving incentives to the kids. Treating them to new toys or books for performing well in school is a good way to show that you appreciate their efforts.

This can also be applied at home. Give incentives for those who will call dibs on cleaning the dishes or other chores such as sweeping the floor. A good example is that they get a free pass for one chore the following week or booking for a vacation to reward the family as a whole.

5. Drink vitamins.

Nowadays, staying healthy remains a top priority. Drink vitamins daily to ensure you have the energy your body needs and to make sure you can take care of the family in tip top shape.

And for your kids, make sure they are taking vitamins packed with nutrients they need to grow well. One good example is Propan TLC, a vitamin food supplement for kids that has Lysine, B Vitamins and 100% RENI Vitamin C.
