We’re booking your weekend plans for you this early. Hosted by the Intramuros Administration in partnership with Culturtain Musicat Productions, Inc., Intramuros Open Cinema will be screening Ang Larawan (2017) on April 7 at 6 p.m. to 8 p.m at Puerto Real Gardens. Directed by Loy Arcenas, Ang Larawan is a Filipino musical film based on 1997 stage play Larawan and 1950 literary play A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino by National Artist Nick Joaquin. Well, where else is cooler to watch a film set in pre-World War II Intramuros than in Intramuros itself?
If you aren’t free on Sunday, you can drop by on Saturday instead. Intramuros Open Cinema will also screen 2018 film Honor: The Legacy of Jose Abad Santos, where you’ll see interviews, documents, and excerpts supporting the life story of the national hero and fifth Chief Justice.
With the event set in Puerto Real Gardens, the watchfest is expected to be intimate, loose, and community-centric as it was last February during the UNKNWN dance party and TOQA fashion show in 2018. Before the screening starts, expect an open market at 10 a.m., too. Foldable chairs? Sure. Blankets? Of course. For more information on this and other cultural hang-outs, go to Intramuros Administration.
