“Be like a mirror, and let your partner know what you see beautiful in them.”—Jenny Tegrotenhuis

Human beings are wired to connect and to maintain relationships of different levels. The foundation of our lives is in many ways reflected in the relationships we have with others—from family to friends and partners to coworkers. Our ability to build and nurture different interactions with people can have a big impact on our ability to thrive. We realize also that we have the power to strengthen our connections and build relationships that fuel our well-being, performance and sense of purpose.

The Lakehall pop-up is ongoing until June 30.

To genuinely connect, a new relationship should have the luxury of time to start a healthy and long-lasting life connection. Stay curious and get to know the other person by sharing intimate conversations about life and love. Always remember to stay focused on each other’s concerns and issues instead of dwelling on the past and worrying about external factors. Research shows that the happiest couples communicate genuine admiration and appreciation toward their partner every day.

Conflict in relationships is inevitable, but I believe this keeps a healthy union. Successful connections are created through small words, small gestures and small acts of love and kindness. Building this foundation creates a more stable and solid bond.

Open house

Lakehall recently opened its doors to the public through a one-month open house until June 30 (closed on Mondays). The affair hosts pocket events, from restaurant takeovers by guest chefs and a tablescapes exhibition by the industry’s leading tastemakers and event stylists, to retail pop-ups and other exciting activities.

The restaurant takeover features, among others, guest chef Margarita Fores. Retail pop-ups include Dough & Grocer, Type A Coffee, Recess, Hindy Weber, Fifty Shades of Dough and a host of other exciting retail concepts. The events gallery showcases design interpretations for your dream event by Anton Barretto, Zenas Pineda, Moss Manila and more. Finally, enjoy a refreshing cocktail at the outdoor lounge bar with Ralph’s Wines & Spirits.

Lakehall is the first phase in what is envisioned to be an omni-channel, lifestyle retail and leisure destination called Nena’s Sanctuary. In the subsequent phases of development, Nena’s Sanctuary will feature a restaurant (Rico’s Café soon to open), a flower shop, garden shop, gift shop, home store, and specialty food store in one stunning and enchanting space. At its core, it aims to be the first well-integrated retail and garden center in the country. If you are looking for some nice gifts to buy, join the Zonta Club of Makati Pop-up this weekend only. The Little Vintage Shop is open until today at the Makati Garden Club. This charitable bazaar is for the benefit of the club’s many programs for women.
