From press looks to street style, Jennifer Lawrence has entered her “style renaissance”
After Jennifer’s return to Hollywood after a brief hiatus, the press looks for her new film, “No Hard Feelings” have been popping up all over social media. Comments flood these posts in praise of her refreshed visual: clean lines, monochromatic outfits, topped with minimal but classic accessories.
Her style transformation has been likened to that of Anne Hathaway, who has also gotten a lot of buzz over her recent looks. Besides the fact that these women are clad in head-to-toe designer ensembles, fans remarked about the glow emanating from them. As Erin Walsh, Anne Hathaway’s stylist puts it, “What’s more stylish than a woman who is embodying her ultimate essence and dressing the part?”
Following the trend of quiet luxury, her style renaissance alludes to an upper east side, “old money” aesthetic. A look epitomized by the relaxed yet polished and tailored street style sported by celebrities such as Sofia Richie, Kendall Jenner, and Margot Robbie.
It seems this style transformation does not only come with a hefty price tag but also a change in lifestyle. Lawrence’s once boisterous public persona has shifted as she moved into her role as a new mother. Having a child made her rethink her future as an actress, stating, “I’m not going to be doing this forever. I’m tired. This is hard.”
Since the birth of her child, she has kept a low profile. When she does make an appearance, she steps out in Totême, Max Mara, and The Row – brands that have been synonymous with modern elegance and stealth wealth.
For this shift, we can thank Lawrence’s stylist, Jamie Mizrahi, known as @sweetbabyjamie on Instagram. Mizrahi also styles Adele, Nicole Richie, and Riley Keough. While she still dresses Lawrence in Dior, who she has been an ambassador for since 2012, it is her understated styling that truly captures the fashion lover’s eye.
Beyond her taste in fashion, Lawrence has also been noticed for her youthful beauty. For that, we look to her makeup artist, Hung Vanngo.
Vanngo’s work has brought out a fresh glow on the 32-year-old actress that is hard to ignore. Her makeup has since moved on from dark tightlined eyes to soft eye shadow which brightens up her eyes. Pink-tinted lips and blush finish off the look, making her look as radiant as ever. Her highlighted, honey-blonde hair has also been styled very loosely which better frames her face. This was a welcomed change from the slicked-back updos and bleach-blonde waves of past.
Lawrence’s beauty and style evolution reflects her growth from her early career in her 20s to a wife and mother in her 30s. There is a certain confidence and self-assuredness to her effortless street style that can only truly come with age and the right stylist.
It can also be said, however, that her new look reflects the current direction fashion seems to be going – one of new-age minimalism and the illusion that one can simply buy into a certain lifestyle.
