Legit Status dance crew, led by Alexis Nickole B. Enciso, emerged as champion in the World Hip Hop Dance Championship 2023 held recently in Phoenix, Arizona.

The competition, where Legit Status came on top in the MegaCrew division, besting 54 other dance groups all throughout the competition, was held last Aug. 6.

Ecstatic over her group’s win, Enciso shared on her Instagram page Thursday, Aug. 10, how the journey went, showing off photos of the World Hip Hop Dance Championships medal and trophy.

“WORLD CHAMPION BABYYY,” Enciso exclaimed in her post.

The victory had Enciso “ absolutely speechless.”

“I still can’t put into words how grateful I am to be apart of this milestone with Legit. This was all just a dream of mine back then which is why this is so surreal to me. WORLD CHAMPS!!!!!” she said.

She then thanked her  teammates as “the journey getting to this moment wasn’t easy, but is definitely one for the books.”

“Learned so much. Wouldn’t have gone through these past 11 months with anyone else but all of you, I love this family so so much,” she said, profusely thanking Coach Vimi and Coach Shayna for “everything,” for “believing in me, and for the constant push to be better every day” and “for helping me go outside my comfort zone and to step up more.”

Likewise, Enciso is grateful to her family, friends and everyone who supported her back home and “for being my inspirations, and for constantly checking up on me.”

“Wouldn’t have gotten here without all your love and support throughout this entire stretch.” she said.

“14 YEARS IN THE MAKING! 11 MONTHS FOR 4 MINUTES! I LOVE YOU @legitstatusph BEST IN THE WORLD!” she added.

Legit Status made a four-minute performance during the finals, where they showcased several dance techniques and landed first place in the competition’s preliminaries, where they attained a score of 7.98 with a 0.32 gap score from the next contenders.

In the semifinal round, the group held a 7.86 score, with the gap between them and the next dance troupe lowered to 0.15.

Legit Status sang the Philippine National Anthem in front of the audience as they took pride in representing the Philippines.

Two other Pinoy dance groups won in the competition—UP Streetdance Club placed third in the MegaCrew division, while HQ won in the Adult division.

Enciso’s parents, Alvin and Astrid Enciso, congratulated their daughter for her amazing feat.

“Congratulations to Legit Status and my Alexis. You are our country’s pride! Alexis, we are happy to see you reach your dreams and pursue one of your passions. Our little girl is all grown up! We can’t wait to see new heights you will conquer. We are with you all the way,” her father said.

Enciso is taking up industrial engineering at the De La Salle University in Manila.  /ra
