The Team’s Favorites From Last Week (10/17/16) | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

We just had a busy week. We had a fun afternoon in DLSU (despite some party poopers), learned a lot from a roster of talented speakers last Saturday, and just finna closed our last issue for the year. It’s going to be awesome. Watch out for it. This week we’re going two touch base, synergize, and connect on a different level with the Ateneo peeps twice this week: one for our next round of the #ScoutCampusTour and Pepi and Grace are giving a talk this Friday. Lookie lookie:

Look how cute they are on that poster! Anyway, here are the team’s faves:

PEPI, Editor in chief, @roiswar

Dear Distance by Luis Katigbak — I admittedly haven’t been reading too much local literature (I only finished devouring the oriinal Trese trilogy a couple of months back) but I’m glad this was given to me last weekend. I’ve been reading it slowly, and it’s been hard to put down once I get going.

Adrian Younge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Method Man – “Bulletproof Love” from the Marvel’s Luke Cage OST — This is music curation for TV at its finest. Luke Cage has had Shaheed put together a wonderful record of both bangers and soul classics for the show, but it all culminates in this original track blessed by Method Man himself.

GRACE, Art Director, @graceyyd

no-filter
No Filter book – I watched the play before when it first came out and I loved it. It made me laugh, cry, and a whole other set of different things. Now, I can recall these moments through the book. Shout out to my friend and first boss ever, Maine Manalansan, for the book’s creative look <3

teen-vogue-cole-sprouse

Teen Vogue Young Hollywood 2016 list – I look forward to this list every year because… actually, I really don’t know. But I just like it. Just look at Cole Sprouse. Another case of puberty done well. *slow claps*

DENISE, Editorial Assistant, @denibeans

Ang Manananggal sa Unit 23B – My officemate, Oliver, linked this trailer to me when he read my Scout article on vampire movies. Damn, this teaser! It’s about time someone here made a film about modern manananggals. Honestly, Philippine folklore and mythology is so rich. There’s so much local material to make into movies rather than recycling the same old plots all over again. I’m really excited for this one!
make-up-for-ever
Make Up Forever Mattifying Primer – This product can hold your makeup in place for an eternity. I’m not exaggerating. Also, that’s saying a lot for someone who has skin as oily as a frying pan.

Tres Leches Cake from Slice – Where has this cake been all my life?! Slice’s tres leches offering is incredibly creamy and moist–you can really tell that it’s been drenched in three kinds of milk as soon as you bite into it. My current guilty pleasure.

LEX, Editorial Assistant, @lexcereal

Swang Rework – Travis Scott – It’s been on my head all day. Although I did find one fan edit that add’s Swae Lee’s verse in the end. I have to listen to Sremmlife 2 end to end.

baybayin-project

Baybayin Project Stickers – I thought of this way back, but props to my childhood friend Leah for coming up with it first. Check the page on where to get it.

The Proxy Eros by Mookie Katigbak – Poetry, man. I still don’t get it but boy do I try. Here’s an excerpt from “If An Island:”

only the ocean heals itself without scarring<
and the shore must needs have spoken to the sea
then no man is, but you’ve made an island out of me.
