Is Hype the new Uber? | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

I don’t know about you, but we still can’t accept the fact that Uber is gone. After finally ceasing Uber’s operations on Apr. 16, new TNVS (transport network vehicle services) applicants have lined up for accreditation. Among them, a local ride-hailing service called Hype.

Hype chief operating officer Jen Silan told CNN Philippines that operations will begin mid-May. “It will be available probably middle of May. This will be available to the public because we need to be very careful in pre-accreditation for all the TNVS.” The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)’s Certificate of Accreditation for Hype Transport Systems, Inc. will be valid for two years.

In an interview with Inquirer.net, LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III said that it’s now up to Hype and other upcoming TNCs how they would market themselves to entice both drivers and commuters.

The processing for drivers including pre-qualifications and pre-accreditation for all TNVS will begin on Monday, Apr. 23. Everything will be processed online.

Hype’s arrival could not come at a better time especially since Grab is still under fire for its unreasonable price surge and picky drivers.

Among the new TNCs are Hirna, Golag, and Ipara/Owto. Silan emphasized that Hype is a local ride-sharing company. “We developed the app because there are problems with the other transport services and we want to address those concerns,” she said.
