On Jan. 12, Taal Volcano began spewing ash and smoke in a phreatic eruption due to hydro-thermal activities. The volcano generated a kilometer-high ash column that can be seen from a distance, which severely affected towns around the volcano.

Earlier today, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) placed Taal Volcano under Alert Level 4, meaning an eruption is possible within days. In the middle of all this, organizations have called out for donations and relief efforts to help residents affected by Taal Volcano’s activity.
