The UP alums came together for their first-ever performance inside The Big Dome
UAAP Season 87 just officially started and who better to kick it off than iconic rock band Eraserheads? The legendary OPM hitmakers lit up the Smart Araneta Coliseum stage for one of the most memorable opening ceremonies in recent memory.
UP alumni Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala, and Raimund Marasigan were all in attendance in support of their alma mater—the hosts for this year’s UAAP season.

For their “first time performing at Araneta”—as said by Buendia during their pseudo reunion concert—their setlist included the songs “Alapaap,” “Sembreak,” “Ligaya,” “Pare Ko,” “Minsan,” “Magasin,” and “Ang Huling El Bimbo.”
The complete Eraserheads performance lasted for almost 40 minutes.
Joining the Eraserheads for the opening ceremony festivities were Johnoy Danao; “Maroon 4,” which consisted of Slapshock guitarist Lean Ansing, Franco bassist Dave Delfin, and Moonstar88 drummer Bon Sundiang and vocalist Maysh Baay; Kaia; and UPeepz.
As for the actual UAAP sporting events, the collegiate men’s basketball season will start with a bang with a classic matchup between rivals UP Fighting Maroons and the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles.
