Women's writing workshop Tagaytay
Founder Reni Roxas gives an inspirational parting talk to workshop participants at a past Women's Writing workshop in Tagaytay

Presented by the Women Writing collective, this workshop aims to help female writers rediscover their creative spark and develop their storytelling skills

Has your writing practice fallen by the wayside? Do you yearn to return to the page but struggle to find inspiration? This workshop is designed to help women writers reconnect with their inner bard.

The Women Writing collective believes that stories begin to form long before pen is put to paper. This workshop will help scribes tap into that wellspring of creativity, regardless of experience level.

In an upcoming writing workshop on the afternoon of Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, the Women Writing collective will provide a supportive, sacred, and judgment-free space where writers can explore their ideas freely, discussing key writing techniques to elevate their craft.

What to expect

In the collaborative and encouraging atmosphere of the workshop, all writing happens during the afternoon of the workshop itself, eliminating the need for homework during one’s free time. This will allow writers to focus on their craft without outside distractions. There will also be reviews of excerpts by master authors, to inspire one’s personal creative work.

The session will be guided by Reni Roxas, with roundtables for supportive feedback from both peers and the instructor.

Roxas is an accomplished author and publisher, with work that spans multiple genres, earning her accolades such as the National Children’s Book Award and the Carlos Palanca Memorial Award for Literature. As the founder of Tahanan Books and co-founder of the Women’s Writing Collective, Roxas is dedicated to nurturing new literary voices. Her latest children’s book launched at the Manila International Book Fair.

Open to writers of all experience levels, participants will develop seeds for future writing projects, while building connections with a community of fellow women writers. There will also be discussions on techniques for maintaining a consistent writing practice, helping overcome common obstacles to regular writing. Most importantly, writers will create a portfolio of new work during the workshop, providing a solid foundation to build on.

The workshop will be on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Molave Building Conference Room, located at 2231 Chino Roces Ave., Makati City. The workshop fee is P2,500, with necessary materials and refreshments.
