Starting a slow detox might be easier for some people, and starting with teas, smoothies, and tinctures can help
You would probably expect a detox article to come out in January, but I find that the lull between Christmas and New Year is the perfect time to start gearing up for the New Year. After all, the gatherings have slowed down somewhat, many are off on holiday, or you are sitting in sweatpants dreading to put on your jeans and face the holiday bulge.
Now is the time to think of getting a clean start in the new year, whether it’s actually doing it in this period between Christmas and New Year, or simply shopping for the items you will need come January 1.
Starting a slow detox might be easier than going cold turkey for some people. This can mean replacing main meals with a bowl of salad, or having a hearty soup for dinner. My preferred way of starting a detox involves adding a few teas, smoothies, and tinctures to my daily routine, to ease my body into the detox process before going into a full cleanse. It’s also a good idea to start incorporating some of these products into your daily routine to detox a little bit every day.
Republic of Tea Detox Greens Single Sips
These single sachets are a blend of superfoods that include matcha, healthy moringa, spirulina, chlorella, and prebiotic agave inulin and probiotic DE111® Bacillus subtilis (1 billion CFUs) and is flavored with lemon, mint, and coconut with monk fruit for a touch of sweetness. The probiotics are a good addition to get the digestive system going.
Republic of Tea Detox Organic Detox Green Tea
I love to take this at night. One tea bag of this is great for cleansing. This sweet, minty, green tea blend does all of that and more. With matcha and chlorella, this infusion delivers antioxidant benefits that are too good to ignore. Its green apple and mint flavor also provides a fresh taste, perfect for after meals.
Healthy Options Joyful Banana Strawberry Smoothie
I am partial to banana-strawberry flavors, so out of the many smoothie flavors Healthy Options has, this is my favorite. I use this to replace a meal when I feel heavy or when I want to save calories for later! Packed with antioxidants and potassium, this is sure to keep you full for a while.
Ninma’s Tripple Rhizome Tonic, Elderberry Syrup, and Super Five Functional Mushrooms
I keep a bottle of the Ninma’s Tripple Rhizome Tonic in my fridge on hand. Though I should probably remember to take it daily, even if I don’t, it helps me when I am under the weather. The powerful curcumin in this tonic is sure to keep any inflammation at bay. This is particularly helpful when someone in my family starts to feel a scratchy throat starting up. One shot of this is sure to calm down whatever was going to start up.
The Elderberry syrup is the perfect support for a cough and cold, and with kids who are in school, this seems to happen every other month or so. Adding this to your arsenal of boosters is sure to boost your immunity. Elderberry is known to help with symptoms of colds and the flu, relieve sinus infections, and was shown to reduce symptoms by almost 50 percent. Aside from this, elderberry is good for controlling blood sugar levels.
Last but not least is the Super Five Functional Mushroom Powder. I mix this with my morning matcha or latte. It works as an adaptogen, helping you deal with and regulate stress. The Lion’s mane in it also helps to boost your brain power and memory, which is a welcome benefit for anyone.
Reishi mushroom works to help boost the heart and lungs and has been shown to improve chronic bronchitis. Cordyceps are an anti-asthmatic, and help stimulate the immune system, increasing aerobic capacity. It also is beneficial for kidney health. Turkey Tail mushrooms support gut health and digestion while also helping to balance the immune system. Chaga mushroom is known to be a blood purifier and pain reliever which has anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties. This super five blend is something not to miss in your daily routine!
