On a Weverse live chat session, the Katseye member officially came out, saying she’s “half fruitcake”

We’re officially calling Katseye’s Lara Rajagopalan the queen of big reveals. As if we’ll ever get over her iconic Dream Academy entrance—she now also gave us a big revelation: She’s queer, she tells fans during a chat session.

“I knew I was half a fruitcake when I was like eight, so I really was wanting everybody,” she said on the global fandom platform Weverse. “Honestly probably before eight. Isn’t half a fruitcake such a good way to explain it without saying it?”

Lara admitted she was worried her sexuality might affect her chances at the idol competition. “You know in Dream Academy when it came out I was really really scared tbh,” she wrote. “I didn’t know if people would accept me and I really thought it would ruin my chances of getting in.”

Fans also sent out messages of support for the 19-year-old global idol. “You all were so so nice about it and gave me so much love and support and it made me feel so confident in who I am, so I love you for that.”

On a voice message also on Weverse, Lara spoke more about her feelings on her sexuality. “I think also being a girl who likes girls is such a different experience because a lot of people don’t think it’s like a real thing. It’s so bizarre. Or, on the other hand, people fetishize it, which is also super annoying.”

“I know I don’t give that I like women, I feel like I give very straight, the way I dress and talk and everything. And like, I feel, and I’ve always felt like I have to brand it on my forehead, if I wanted to be with women. Like, how would they even know. I feel like I have to get a tattoo of the flag or something for people to know. So I understand you guys. I was really scared. And now I’m so grateful that people in my life and you guys are so supportive. I feel so proud of it, no shame at all. I love that part of me,” Lara added.

And honestly? We just love her even more for that, too.
