You can now download artworks from Paris Museums for free | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Have you always been fascinated by Parisian art but haven’t had the chance to see it for yourself? Well, you’re in luck. According to VICE, each and every artwork in the City of Lights can now be accessed through your fingertips (and screens.)

Public institution Paris Musées merged the city’s 14 museums and made an easy-to-access platform for us to download their artworks for free—the total catalogue amounting to 321,178 pieces. You can now peruse all exhibited paintings, photographs, manuscripts, and coins right in the comfort of your own room. All of these pieces can be found on their website. Now, where do I sign up?

Paris Musées also ensured that the digital files can be used for teaching, research “thereby improving [our] physical and cultural mediation tools.” We love a generous platform.

Among the works of art lined up are masterpieces by French painter Claude Monet, Spanish painter Francisco Goya, and Dutch painter Rembrandt. Time to spend hours browsing through the whole collection. I guess my Friday night out can wait.
