Holy Carabao's latest workshop empowers people to make better and more ethical food choices | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

What’s wrong with following a diet? There’s nothing wrong with trying new ways to eat clean. The problem is when you follow a diet without knowing why you’re not supposed to eat this or why you’re supposed to eat that, only that this certain diet is popular right now and it works for other people. If you’re just blindly following a trend, then you’re not doing yourself a favor. It’s important to know what works for you, full stop.

Also important: You need to make sure that whatever that is, it’s aligned with what works for the environment. What good is eating healthy stuff if the actual physical world you’re in is deteriorating? I’d rather be unhealthy if it means protecting Mother Nature, but thankfully you don’t have to choose between the two.

If you’re clueless about conscious and ethical eating, check out Holy Carabao’s latest workshop, “the #beyond organic diet,” which will be on Mar. 16. It’s a four-pronged workshop designed to encourage students to “get shook” (by dispelling myths about food nutrition), “eat woke” (by showing how to eat consciously without following fads), “get dirty” (by teaching the ins and outs of “dirt cure”), and “eat bespoke” (by illustrating how to curate a personal diet).  It aims to empower students by teaching them how to “sift through all the information” about food and how to “make better choices for yourself and the world.” It’s like what the old parable said: Teach a man to fish and he won’t have to depend on other people’s information about fishes.

Holy Carabao is a lifestyle brand and group of holistic wellness farms established by Hindy Tantoco in 2007. (Holy Carabao’s journey from backyard garden to lifestyle brand) They’ve invited health experts from the BioBalance Institute to talk at the workshop, as well as health optimization stalwart Dr. Ted Achacoso and holistic nutritionist from Toronto Roland Pankewich.

If you’re interested, you can register via the Holy Carabao shop. You can also email them at [email protected] or give them a call at 0977-8134659. The workshop “comes with a hearty salad bar, drinks, goodie bag, discounted services and a 30day free consultancy to our Holy Carabao community,” and it costs P4,950. It’lll be held at Fully Booked BGC. To learn more, visit Holy Carabao’s website or Facebook page.
