Skin-care pioneer turns 30 | Lifestyle.INQ

TESSA Nieto Villalon

Happy birthday to Facial Care Center! I can still remember how happy my aunt was when she lost ____ pounds when she had ______ done at Facial Care.

At some point—hopefully not too soon—I know I will also have bulge issues that comes with age, and it is comforting to know there is something I can avail myself of that is noninvasive.

For now, I have my facials done at Facial Care. I believe taking care of one’s skin is the best thing to do, and Facial Care believes in this, too—that beauty begins with great skin. Here’s what they have to say about taking care of our skin.

Young skin = beautiful skin

FEIYUE has something for everybody.

Think about it. Babies have extremely soft skin. Children have no blemishes. Then puberty kicks in, introducing acne and oily skin, and pores, pores, pores! These lessen during the 20s, but skin gets evidently duller (and makeup becomes more of a necessity). Our 30s come almost unsuspectingly, bringing the first few wrinkles and age spots. And things go further downhill from there—that is, if you don’t take care of your skin.

While it’s best to start young, you can only do so much to delay your skin’s aging process. Luckily, there are solutions available everywhere. But if you’re not careful, you’re going to end up looking more like a stiff, overaged Barbie doll, instead of a fresh and youthful 40-something.

Nonsurgical, noninvasive

With 30 years of experience in beauty and a pioneer in premium skin-care technology, Facial Care Center prides itself on its edge over other beauty centers with its “all nonsurgical, all noninvasive” advantage.

Facial Care president George T. Siy says, “We want women to still look as naturally beautiful as possible. Because there are little things you want to preserve, nuances that make you who you are. Like the way you smile, the way your eyes move when you’re happy. Botox can change that. A surgical facelift can change that. What we offer here at Facial Care is an option for women to look younger and look their best for their age, not an obvious alteration that people will notice.”

Facial Care’s in-house dermatologist Dr. Shyla Valdez agrees: “Too much tightening can make your face appear stiff and expressionless. Our nonsurgical machine treatments target the areas on your skin and treat them with great precision. We have several great alternatives to Botox and surgery here that amaze our clients. Treatments can take as short as 30 minutes, with no downtime. So they’re excellent options for women on the go.”

For its 30th anniversary, Facial Care is giving out special promos and several discounts on treatments. (Call 8927546).

Feiyue footwear

Another exciting news! Feiyue (pronounced “feî-ué”) shoes are finally in Manila.

I’m the type of person who won’t suffer for fashion. I do wear heels but only if I find them comfortable. I love sneakers, but surprisingly not all are comfortable, too.

Well, when I put my feet inside my first pair of Feiyues (I chose gray high-cuts), I knew it was not going to be my last pair.

Originally from Shanghai, Feiyue became famous for its comfort and flexibility. The shoes are a staple among wushu practitioners. In 2005, Patrice Bastian, an entrepreneur living in Shanghai, decided to collaborate with a team of artists and redesigned Feiyue for the contemporary Western consumer.

In 2006, the first French-designed Feiyue collection was launched.

When it comes to shoes, it has to be two things—style and comfort. On these, this brand delivers.

Don’t take my word for it. Try a pair. Feiyue’s first pop-up store will open on the third floor of Power Plant Mall in  Rockwell, Makati, on Oct. 1.
