We don’t know about you, but Dr. Tricia Robredo is *our* poster child of academic excellence. In case you missed the memo, she officially started the Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery program at Harvard Medical School on Aug. 30, as seen in former Vice President Leni Robredo’s Instagram post.

Contrary to what many would expect, her journey to Harvard wasn’t smooth sailing. After graduating with a dual degree of Doctor of Medicine and Master in Business Administration from the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health in 2020, the younger Robredo had to postpone her residency twice: first when the country was hit by the pandemic and second when she decided to campaign for her mom’s presidential bid.
Despite these circumstances, she didn’t stop practicing medicine. She did clinical work as an ER doctor, immersed herself in various community health projects, and had several of her works published in medical journals—all while waiting for the right time to continue her studies.
So, when we saw Tricia’s “See you soon?” comment under her mom’s IG post, we genuinely thought the Angat Buhay chair would just pay her daughter a visit to personally check on her—you know, like a proud Asian mom. Turns out she’ll be flying to the US soon not only as a mother of a Harvard student, but also as one of Harvard Kennedy School’s Center for Public Leadership’s Hauser Leaders.
Hauser Leaders are expected to engage with students, faculty, and the entire Harvard community by sharing their experiences in “principled and effective public leadership.”
“I’m both thrilled and humbled [to] be given this space to share my advocacies and experiences, alongside this roster of distinguished leaders from various fields and sectors. What a blessing it is to be returning to Cambridge for this opportunity,” she wrote in a Facebook post.
ICYDK, this isn’t the first time a Robredo has set foot in Harvard. Late patriarch Jesse Robredo and eldest child Aika Robredo earned their Master in Public Administration degrees from the same school in 1999 and 2018, respectively.
In the words of Harvard alum Elle Woods: “What, like it’s hard?”
