Who do you call for substance abuse issues? DOH’s new hotline | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Ahead of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Health (DOH) launched a hotline for people who suffer from substance abuse problems. In collaboration with the Dangerous Drugs Abuse Prevention and Treatment Program, the department established Substance Abuse Helpline 1550.

The helpline was established to ensure that professional assistance is provided for people who use drugs, despite restrictions by the community quarantine. This will also provide the public with easy access to information on substance abuse-related problems.

DOH, however, noted that reports of drug-related crimes should still be forwarded to government agencies like the Dangerous Drugs Board, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Philippine National Police.

Substance Abuse Helpline 1550 is available from Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The hotline is accessible by landline or mobile phone.
