If you’re looking for a silver lining during these gray days, we have one for you. After the FDA issued a memorandum warning against buying Reno Liver Spread (which had apparently gone unregistered for literal decades), the beloved canned good is back on the market.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given the distributors the green light to put the product back on the shelves after the brand’s manufacturer secured a certificate of product registration (CPR) around two weeks ago.
Officially FDA-approved
In an interview, FDA director general Eric Domingo shared that Reno Liver Spread’s manufacturer has completed the documentation necessary to operate and distribute their products around two weeks ago.

“Itong Reno nabigyan na po siya ng certificate of product registration baka two weeks ago… meron na po. Itong liver spread wala ng kulang na dokumento at pumasa sa ating panuntunan,” said Domingo.
Honestly, we’re just relieved to know that Reno is safe and up to government standards. Christmas wouldn’t be the same without this delicious spread in our noche buena meals. It’s also nice to know that this Filipino pantry staple is safe for consumption (even pre-FDA approval).
