You can pot your plants in LV Speedys and Balenciaga sneakers (kind of) | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Plants have become all the rage since our pandemic-mandated internment. Aside from giving people joy and being good for our mental health, some enterprising individuals have decided to capitalize on the craze by selling pots and planters that look like people or pets.  Giving your plant children a home is important for any aspiring plant parent, but if luxe lodgings is what you desire for your plants, how about a Louis Vuitton Speedy vase?

The plant-friendly makeover of the iconic monogrammed bag is by Bodega Rose, a New York-based creative design studio that creates planters inspired by art, fashion and performance. Bodega Rose is the brainchild of New York City native and Cornell University graduate, Olivia Rose in a bid to fuse plants and culture.

Aside from the Speedy (which was actually molded from an authentic Louis Vuitton bag from the ’90s), Bodega Rose also worked its magic on other iconic pieces of pop-culture and fashion. Other recognizable items that have received the Bodega Rose treatment include Prada bucket hats, Nike sneakers, New York takeaway coffee cups and basketballs (or in some cases, purses).

Get you a planter that do both 💝 @ulalagirl

These planters start at $95 and can go as high as $1,000 (that’s how much the Speedy vase costs if you’re wondering). If you’re looking to cop a piece for your home garden, you can get your very own Balenciaga Triple S planter from their website. The studio also ships internationally, but the $70 shipping fee is quite steep on top of whatever you’ve loaded your cart with.

As much as we’d love to grab a piece for our beloved plants, we’re still in the middle of a pandemic and an economic recession. In the meantime, there’s always Instagram and Dapitan Arcade for all our plant needs.
