TO MARK the 47th anniversary of the Soroptimist International Founder Manila (SIFM), two major activities will be held on May 5 at the Canossa Spirituality House in Tagaytay City, with theme “The Soroptimist in the Year of Faith.”
In the morning, a Thanksgiving Mass and Recollection will be held with Rev. Fr. Roberto San Diego, OFMC, as celebrant and recollection master.
This will be followed by the Anniversary Luncheon program consisting of welcome remarks by president Cora DJ Manimbo; the anniversary message by governor Minda A. Garcia of Soroptimist International Philippines Region (SIPR); special song and violin numbers by Abigael Cruz of Community Chest Foundation; and words of inspiration from guest of honor and speaker Gemma Cruz Araneta, executive assistant to the Mayor of Manila and Manila Historical and Heritage Bureau chair; and closing remarks by Ms Lyn P. Imperio, SIFM first vice president.
The first Soroptimist club in the Philippines was founded by Mariquita S. Castelo on May 5, 1966 with the organization of the Soroptimist Club of Greater Manila now known as Soroptimist International Founder Manila.
A major activity this year is the SIPR Mid-Biennial Conference to be held on May 30-June 3 in Bacolod City. The SIFM has also launched its official publication, “The Founder’s Vision.”
