Lisa Lamberty is a name you should familiarize yourself with. She is responsible for formulating that tube of Avon lipstick, with other Avon breakthrough products.
Lamberty, Avon’s executive director of color cosmetics research and development, sat down with Lifestyle to show off the latest makeup collection.
Her job entails more than creating color and pigment for Avon in their research lab in Suffern, New York. She also tweaks formulae and pigments to address issues such as wear, color payoff and skin adaptability.
The new Avon makeup line uses the True Color technology, which promises “what you see is what you get.”
In line with this technology, Lamberty also demonstrates a new binder Avon has developed for the line. Binders make your makeup adhere to your skin.
The original binders were made of opaque powder, which offered longevity, but the opacity would sometimes turn chalky, with different shades yielding different results when used by women of varying ethnic backgrounds.
Universally flattering
Lamberty and her team came up with a binder that is transparent. This transparency allows each shade to register accurately on your skin as it does on the tube or pan.
“The transparent base system allows our products to be used by a diverse consumer,” says Lamberty. No more grouping shades according to ethnicity; now all shades are truly universally flattering.
The collection consists of six shades of the True Color Eyeshadow Quad, five shades of Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss and 13 shades of the Ultra Color Lipstick.
Not only have the formulae been reformulated for intense pigmentation and long wear, the packaging has been adjusted to make women’s lives more convenient, too.
The Ultra Color lipstick tubes now have “windows,” where the top of the tube features a clear panel, allowing you to see instantly the lipstick shade.
For women who’ve always wanted to learn how to create gradient eyes or smoky lids, the eyeshadow quads have numbers etched on each shade—a foolproof step-by-step cheat sheet that tells you the order of eyeshadow application.
