MANILA, Philippines—Giving the gift of art to aesthetes and non-connoisseurs alike.
A run-off from the success of ManilArt 2013, “Art For All Manila (Afam): The Affordable Art Fair 2014” would run from Feb. 14 to 16 at the posh SM Aura in Taguig City.
Spurred with the outpouring of people at the ManilArt 2013, the organizers and SM Aura engaged galleries for Afam.
ManilArt 2013 witnessed the broadened range of viewers from art savants to passers-by to shoppers of the upscale retail hub that attended the event and broke artistic barriers that educated the uninitiated.
According to Delan Lopez Robillos, one of the organizers of Afam, the “affordable” tagline for art fairs was a great draw for art enthusiasts abroad and was the inspiration for Afam.
Works ranging from art pieces, artist-made objects and utilitarian artistry are on display with friendly tag prices that is perfect for Valentine’s day.
On Feb. 16, the fair opens to the public as their would be a talk by Prima Ballerina Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, a dance excerpt from the classical ballet, “Le Corsaire (The Pirate)” and a demonstration of a ballet-class with the scholars of Ballet Manila’s Project Ballet Futures with choreographies from Osias Barroso Jr., one of the country’s finest danseurs, and France-based choreographer, Ernest Mandap.
