The Mind Museum celebrated this March its two years of existence and expertise in teaching art and science to over half a million people.

The museum located in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig is a non-profit organization of the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc., and was designed by Filipino scientists and artists in combining science and art, the museum said in a statement of its anniversary.

In the past two years, the museum has hosted travelling exhibitions from around the world such as “Da Vinci–The Genius,” opened in 2013, and “Biorhythm from Ireland” in 2012. It is also an institutional partner of the World Science Festival and the California Academy of Sciences.

For 2014, museum goers can expect more exhibits, shows and activities in Mind Museum.

The museum is now hosting its newest planetarium show “Back to the Mood for Good,” narrated by actor Tim Allen. The show, with its visuals and narrative, tells the history of moon exploration. It also tackles the $30 million Google Lunar XPrize, the largest incentivized prize in history.  The Mind Museum premiered the show last February.

Since the end of April, a portion of the museum’s second floor has been housing a special exhibition for a limited run. Launched in Singapore last 2013, “The Apocalypse Project – Imagined Futures” explores creative lifestyles under climate change.

The museum will also hold different summer programs. Among them are the “Crime Scene Investigation 101” which will teach children how to gather and analyze evidence from a crime scene; the “Junior Mind Mover Program” which will expose children to the work of scientists in museums; and the “Marine Science Camp,” which will be taught by marine biologists from the California Academy of Sciences and will be about the coral reefs of Anilao, Batangas.

The museum will also hold the “Soccer Science,” a soccer game training and a science workshop in one.

In a statement, the Mind Museum said it has earned a GOLD LEED certification from the US Green Building Council for being a paragon of modern, environmentally-sustainable architecture.

Recently, it was awarded the THEA Award by the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) for this year’s “Outstanding Achievement.” The award said the museum “expands science into a fully experiential world,” and that “the thematic thread and artistic treatments throughout is what makes this project extraordinary by any standards.”
