If the title is already jaw-dropping wait until you find out that the solar panels are installed on top of a shopping mall. Sound impossible? Well, Robinsons Land Corporation made this possible due to them erecting a new shopping hub in Pampanga.

Last week, May 30, 2016, Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) launched its 2.88-megawatt solar power plant on top of Robinsons Starmills in San Fernando, Pampanga. With the opening of this new powerplant, an estimated 2.25 million kilograms of carbon dioxide emission can be possibly reduced from the surrounding areas.

SM City North held the previous record with 1.5-megawatt installation back in 2014 but the ample space at Robinsons Starmills made it a better location to install a larger number of solar panels.

The president of RLC, Frederick Go, aims to provide sustainable alternatives to reduce our carbon footprints by using renewable energy. Being part of a big industry, the inauguration of the powerplant is a good step for RLC to do its part in helping save the environment.

The solar power plant at Robinsons Starmills is essential to the shopping hub that houses several popular brands, a huge food court that showcases a wide array of Kapangpangan products and delicacies, and a regional bus station that will cater to several provinces in the North. Indeed, the installation of the solar power plant in this particular mall will be a huge help to both the tenants inside and the people living in the surrounding location.

Robinsons Starmill is just one of the many projects that RLC inaugurated in their ongoing advocacy for a greener environment. They are also planning to install solar power plants in its malls in Bacolod and Tacloban.

Big companies like RLC are already doing their part in saving Mother Nature in a bigger scale. Hopefully this move serves as an eye opener for us to do our part, tiny or not, in saving the Earth.
