So if you guys haven’t heard yet, Instagram tested a new feature on selected users over the past weekend, and a lot of people are pretty upset over it. See, we’re all used to our Instagram grids having three photos per row. Sometime soon, we may see a grid of four photos now instead of three.
Why, Instagram? Why alienate the majority of the user base you yourself built? The -porn suffix driven, flatlay inspired, filter loving audience? And what about brands, who you are slowly sucking up to? What will they do with their old scheduled posts? What will their social media department (okay, maybe social media head) think up next?
Okay, maybe it doesn’t sound like the end of the world, but it is for those with curated feeds revolving around the three-photo layout. A huge number of media influencers, bloggers, and even some corporations make use of this type of layout to market their own personal brands. Hell, there are even apps that can pre-design your Instagram grid using three posts per row.
Messed up Instagram grids may be looking like this in no time:
Hey @instagram, people have spent years perfecting their feeds. No 4 grid update please. pic.twitter.com/hPuCJthKb6

Though the change may not be final and is going through further screening, might as well brace yourselves for more of it. Recently, Instagram updated its platform to automatically play videos and sound.
