Barangay Ginebra’s hunt for a sharpshooter finally came to an end after acquiring veteran gunner Jeff Chan from Phoenix Fuel Masters in exchange for a first-round pick at this year’s draft.

Chan’s arrival gives Ginebra enough firepower to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals, especially now that they’re holding a 3-5 win-loss record and is looking forward to winning their last three games. The veteran shooter currently averages 11.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists with the Fuel Masters this conference.

Before being shipped, Chan put up a 26-point performance in his last game with the Fuel Masters that, unfortunately, resulted in a loss.

Through the years, the Gin Kings have been struggling to find a consistent shooter from beyond the arc. With the arrival of the 34-year-old shooting guard, other teams now have a reason to refrain from immediately double-teaming the twin towers of Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar to close out and extend defense on their gunners Justin Brownlee, LA Tenorio, and now Chan.

Before donning the Fuel Masters jersey, Chan played for eight years with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters under Yeng Guiao, where he fully developed his potential and eventually won two championships and one finals MVP.

Chan was then traded to the Fuel Masters last August in exchange for Mark Borboran and a 2020 second-round pick.

The Bacolod native will have his career debut with Ginebra this Wednesday in a pivotal game against the Columbian Dyip.
