Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, also known as XXXTentacion, a SoundCloud rapper from Miami, Florida, was shot dead this week. He was 20.
According to reports, after leaving a motorcycle dealership in South Florida, he was robbed, then shot and left in his car.
It is truly sad that such an influential artist has passed away. Though we are all aware of what he had done wrong—he beat up people and landed in jail—XXXTentacion had always been spreading love and positivity through his movements and messages he sent out to fans, and through his music.
XXXTentacion started as a SoundCloud rapper who became popular with his hit song, “Look at Me,” released in December 2015. It went viral in mid-2016.
From then on his career zoomed up with the release of his debut album, “17.”
The famous-infamous rapper performed in many music festivals, gaining popularity at a very young age.
People mourn his loss so much because he was a great artist whose creativity and new sound revved up the hip-hop industry.
XXXTentacion had his whole life ahead of him, with his amazing talent, limitless potential and a strong desire for growth to become a better person. That all that has been taken away is just a tragedy.
XXXTentacion gave an amazing contribution to the hip-hop community and to people who have looked down on themselves and whose lives are lost in a state of depression.
XXXTentacion helped a lot of people overcome their depression and hardships. He gave them hope that at the end of the day, everything would be okay.
Negative feedback
Another thing that is truly sad is what people had to say about the tragedy. Some are saying so many negative things, like he deserved his fate because of the wrong things he had done. No matter how much wrong a person has done, no one truly deserves to die. This generation is wrong to say such—XXXTentacion was already at the point of changing for the better and was on the verge of creating new sounds and movements through his positivity and love for people.
In fact, this weekend, XXXTentacion was planning a suicide prevention benefit. Sadly, he wouldn’t be able to help change lives.
Big artists, such as Kanye West, J. Cole and Joey Badass, have sent condolences not only to his family and friends, but also to his fans who have been loyal and supportive of the artistry and movement that XXXTentacion had been leading.
This is truly a horrific moment for the hip-hop culture. Rest in paradise, Jahseh Dwayne “XXXTentacion” Onfroy. You will be missed. Your legacy lives on forever.
