Being married for 13 years now, newscaster Bernadette Sembrano-Aguinaldo says she has learned a lot from her husband Emilio “Orange” Aguinaldo IV.
Sembrano enumerated the many lessons she has reaped from their marriage in her Instagram post last Monday, Oct. 4, where she shared a few throwback photos with him, including that of a wedding picture.
“Just be a good person. And it starts with listening. This is one of the most important lessons I learned from my asawa – the most important lessons in marriage or in ANY relationship,” she said.
Another lesson she learned is “It’s not all about YOU” and to “consider the other person’s behalf.”
“Dami Kong natutunan sa asawa ko (I learned so many things from my husband) on how to be [a] better person and daughter to our parents ! #just saying,” she added.
Sembrano also cited the many things that commitment does to a person. She cited how it calls for a lot of adjustments, and that there can still be resistance, too. But another benefit she identified is having a supporter of one’s passions.
Lastly, she stressed the need to be appreciative of a partner’s good traits, and making sure these traits are not abused.
“Once you find a good and loyal person sa buhay mo. Wag aabusuhin ang kabutihan. Huwag Kang magpapaabuso… Pero mas lalong huwag mangaabuso,” Sembrano said.
(Once you find a good and loyal person in your life, do not abuse the kindness. Don’t allow yourself to be abused or taken advantage of. But more so, don’t be abusive and don’t take advantage.)
The newscaster and her husband have been married since June 2008. JB
