Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino said on Wednesday, May 20 that they will be providing free bicycles for national athletes under the local Olympic program in hopes to help athletes stay in shape and assist them with their transportation requirements.
“With the new normal which mandates we find new ways to go about our daily business, national athletes who do not have a personal mode of transportation will surely benefit from this,” said Tolentino. “Bicycling is not only a healthy way to get from one point to another, it also promotes social distancing, not to mention a means to avoid traffic,” added Tolentino, who is also the president of the national sports association for cycling.
The POC board is set to avail 100 bicycle units, which will be given to athletes who need it most and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Athletes who wish to avail a bicycle can apply in the POC.
