Other artists in the exhibit are Ferdinand Cacnio, Anton del Castillo, Anita del Rosario, Niccolo Jose, Karl Lago, Rico Lascano, Kenneth Montegrande, Jerry Morada, Marge Organo and Eddie Santillan. Mallari works in an abstract style that is a hybrid of a geometric, minimalist style and lyrical abstract expressionist brushstrokes. Otto Neri at Galerie Anna

In conjunction with Art Fair Philippines 2022, Galerie Anna presents the recent works of Otto Neri, in a solo exhibition titled “Hide and Seek.” The works are a visual rumination on the psychological space of childhood invaded by the traumatizing effect of the pandemic. Alluding to the popular childhood game of “Hide and Seek,” conflating it with iconic Western artworks like Rodin’s “The Thinker” and Rembrandt’s “Nightwatch,” Neri weaves a narrative of innocence, stage managing his own daughter Bianca, all of 4 years old and already a precociously emerging artist.

Galerie Anna is at 4/F, The Artwalk, SM Megamall, Edsa corner Julia Vargas Avenue, Mandaluyong City; tel. 0956-8656472.

Galerya Amalia presents an online exhibition of “Alay sa Maestro” by artist-critic Cid Reyes, on view until April 15. The Western painting tradition of paying homage to works by past or present masters is long established. Similarly, Reyes pays homage to the works of highly influential Filipino artists, such as Malang, Romeo Tabuena, Oscar Zalameda, Anita Magsaysay-Ho, National Artists Carlos “Botong” Francisco, Arturo Luz and Ang Kiukok, the Russian abstractionist Wassily Kandinsky, and the Japanese printmakers Utamaro and Hiroshige.

As its participation in the Art Fair Philippines 2022, Galerie Roberto presents the recent work of visual artist-couple Brian Uhing and S-Ann Ch’i, on view from March 23 to April 1. Uhing is a Surrealist painter whose technique aspires to the sublimity of Venetian and Flemish painters of past centuries. Working at the opposite end of the painterly spectrum, S-Ann Ch’i is an abstract expressionist, subscribing to the impetus and impulse of action painting, a phrase coined by the American critic Harold Rosenberg.
