OPM artists pay tribute to the music of Hotdog in this upcoming online concert | Lifestyle.INQ

When original Pilipino music (OPM) band Hotdog released its hit single “Manila” in 1976, it spawned a new musical genre, which became known as Manila Sound.

Over 40 years later, this musical style—a cross between rock and pop, interlaced with catchy Filipino lyrics—lives on through a new generation of OPM artists.

On Dec. 13, some of this new generation of musicians will pay tribute to the legacy of Hotdog in an online concert titled “Hinahanap-hanap Kita Manila: The Manila Heritage Concert” organized by the Intramuros Administration, National Parks Development Committee and Nayong Pilipino Foundation, and presented by Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, Juan Care Foundation Inc. and Viva Music Publishing Inc.

The concert, which will stream live on Facebook, will feature artists Gary Valenciano, Bras Pas Pas Pas Pas with Raymund Marasigan, Ebe Dancel, Armi Millare, Yeng Constantino, Blaster Silonga, Nicole Laurel Asensio, Bing Austria, Bea Lorenzo, and Rubber Inc.

It’s free for everyone and will prominently feature the city’s heritage sites like the Manila City Hall, Kartilya ng Katipunan, Lagusnilad, Jones Bridge, Intramuros, Luneta/Rizal Park, Paco Park, National Planetarium and Museo Pambata.
