Infusing tea in your chicharon and cold soba | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Aside from perking up our mornings, tea can be infused into sweet and savory dishes. I bet you see restaurants serving something matcha-flavored every day. But with tea’s vast options and taste profiles, you’ll find that they’re more than soft serves and lattes.

See how tea is infused in the dishes below. It’s a mix of familiar and surprising finds.

TWG French Earl Grey Tea Jelly

Change up your usual fruit-based jelly with this Earl Grey one from TWG. It’s also infused with citrus fruits for added flavor and aroma. You can slather it on your toast for breakfast or tea biscuits during your afternoon snack. Available at Shangri-La Plaza Mall.

Kissako Uji Matcha Café Soba

Known for their matcha-infused dishes, Kissako Uji also serves matcha noodles. One of them is cold soba, which has a bright green hue and has broth on the side where you dip your noodles. It’s actually a popular dish in Japan during summer. It looks so intriguing, don’t you think? Located at SM Mall of Asia.

Merry Moo Thai Milk Tea Ice Cream

Thai milk tea is made of strongly-brewed black tea spiced with anise or cardamom. It’s then mixed with condensed or soy milk for that silky texture. These ingredients also make for a good ice cream flavor, which Merry Moo has done. It’s not too sweet and you can really taste the spiced black tea with each spoonful. Available at SM Megamall.

FAT Green Tea Chicharon

Who knew that green tea would go well with our favorite crunchy snack? The chicharon is sprinkled with green tea salt and comes with honey vinegar. What you’ll get is a salty, earthy, and sour snack while waiting for the main course. Located at Forbes Town Center, Bonifacio Global City.

Bizu Patiserrie French Earl Grey and Almond Macaron

For a quick sweet bite, opt for Bizu’s Earl Grey and Almond Macaron. It’s made with a Tiffany blue almond shell with Earl Grey filling. The flavor is nutty and sweet with a spiced contrast from the tea. We dare you to eat just one macaron. Available at Greenbelt 2.
