MANILA, Philippines – Interior designer extraordinaire Jigs Adefuin believes that homes and work places should represent the clients’ personality and flair just like how the new office of Adefuin Design Studio and AdOR Interiors exude those of Adefuin and business partner Oliver Ortiz.

Adefuin said that he wanted to “reflect [his] client’s ideas and lifestyle” through his work. His vision, he said, was to create diverse and unique creations that reflected his clients’ personalities.

Suite 309 of the LRI Design Plaza along Nicanor Garcia Street in Makati City, the new home to Adefuin and Ortiz’s work spaces, emanates elegance but is also warm and inviting.

From outside, the living room of the five-man design firm beckons to the building’s visitors with the warmth of its comfy couch and armchair, rugs and wood accents. Ortiz said that the office was designed to give clients a way to experience their work. “They can sit on the chairs,” he said, explaining that the furniture were not merely there for display.

Adefuin takes into consideration the aesthetic properties of the furniture he designs or ‘customizes’ and also makes sure that they are functional as well, said Ortiz.

Pointing to a chest near the doorway of the design firm’s East-Meets-West styled reception area, Ortiz said “Jigs took note of Feng Shui and added a chest to the room to attract wealth but to make it functional, he chose one that was large enough to serve as storage as well.”

Ortiz said that Adefuin also showcased his penchant for Philippine Art in their office, with paintings and sculptures by Filipino artists.

The design firm’s conference room was illuminated by drop lights which hung above a massive marble table. Ortiz said that the room was intended for creative discussions with partners and clients.

And even the employees’ and owner’s office was as chic as the rest of the 68-square meter space with individual desks and lighting fixtures which were conducive to their line of work.

Formed some five years ago, the design firm provides its clients with sophisticated yet functional designs, said Ortiz.

Ortiz disclosed that Adefuin never used the same furniture or accessory twice as they thought that it would not be fair to the clients. “We want to provide our clients with designs that are worth the value they are spending.”

Adefuin, with his keen attention to details and proportions and is known for his capability to transform condominiums, townhouses and loft spaces into comfortable living and working areas that are not only elegant but also functional.

One of the most sought-after local interior designers, Adefuin is a licensed interior designer, a board top-notcher, and an awardee of the “10 Iconoclasts” of the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID).
